Our Home

AKA Our construction site. We have several projects going on right now. After, tearing out one wall and building two more we have drywalled and are in the puty stage (O what fun). Between the living room, master bedroom, and kitchen, we've gone through a lot of puty. That, for the moment, has been put on hold as we begin a new adventure this weekend. We have torn down the gazebo in the back yard and will be replacing it with a brick patio with a fire pit in the middle. Hopefully, all goes smoothly, but as experience with this house tells me, that's probably not going to happen.

And the Fun Begins

We got early start on the weekend Thrusday and Friday nights by pulling up the original brick and starting the prep work of the new patio. We had a lot of help through the process as Chloe and Peyton were very interested in what we were doing. (As you can see below) It is going smooth so far, the original brick had a nice sand base that will be easy to work with.

THE WEEKEND

We were hard at work all weekend and made great progress. It was a perfect weekend to be outside so that made it much easier. Saturday we had some real help, although Chloe and Peyton did do a good job of licking the sweet off of us, Doug and Noah joined in on the fun. Ashley, Amanda's lil sister, came over to help for a little bit as well. Needless to say, it was all well needed and appreciated. With thier help we got the sand base filled, leveled, and tamped. Next was the easy part, laying the bricks :) On Saturday we got just over half the patio layed and decided to call it a night and head off to the state fair. Got a love that fair food.

On Sunday, Amanda and I finished laying the bricks and called it a day so we could atleast enjoy some of the weekend.

THE WORK DOESN'T STOP THERE

Throughout the week we worked on building the firepit a couple hours here and there and got the inside wall up. This allowed us to have our first fire. So on Sat. we invited some friends over for dinner and a FIRE. It was a nice weekend, we decided to just relax and let our backs recover a little bit.

As of right now, we have almost finished the outside layer of the pit and will soon move on to the next project, which we have already started. Yeah I know, I hate starting new things before we get the current one done, but apparently, that is Amanda's favorite thing to do. And I think that's her way of making sure things get done, because she knows that once I start something, I have to finish it. She keeps me busy.

Anyways, we will get some pics up of our progress soon, we have been taking them, just been a little too busy to actually download them to the computer.

Until next time, we love you all and take care

  1. Peyton is such a little cutie! Are they lovin each other? It sounds like things are going pretty well with the wedding and new patio. It is great that you guys have the sand base already b/c I would venture to say the prep work was the toughest part for us. Can't wait to see the finished product!! Let us know if there is anything we can do to help out with the wedding or anything else for that matter. I know we are way down here, but we are certainly willing if we are able :) Love you guys!
